After having played for 22 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Patricio Costa made a precise shot to the right of Vinicio Christobal. Los Hornos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Fabian Valery struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Hornos. 38 minutes into the match, Los Hornos's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Vinicio Christobal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Los Hornos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Iyan to maneuver through the defense. Salvador Gisbert made in the 47th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Los Hornos's Humberto Iyan.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Epifanio Laurendi to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Los Hornos's Vinicio Christobal got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Patricio Costa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Patricio Costa was extremely unlucky when he, in the 69th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erubiel Quirze during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 77 minutes into the game, Cecilio Silvanito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Los Hornos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Vinicio Christobal made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Vinicio Christobal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 91 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vinicio Christobal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Venezuela eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
