Orestis Lazarou showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of the match. After having played for 21 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita scored 1-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Orestis Lazarou, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Arnout Arends came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Jacco Hekman sent off a good shot on target. 34 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Orestis Lazarou narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Orestis Lazarou was left in no man's land by his defense there! Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jacco Hekman in the 42nd minute. Rondo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rick de Zee in the 43rd minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Orestis Lazarou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rondo's Jochem den Hartog got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charly Rusterholz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Orestis Lazarou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnout Arends fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Jochem den Hartog kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Orestis Lazarou in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Orestis Lazarou made a huge save. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Rondo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Rondo's goalkeeper Orestis Lazarou had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 79th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Rondo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a little luck, Rondo's Orestis Lazarou got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacco Hekman, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute.
