Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aristides Brun stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Dilmen Onay made a huge save. Dilmen Onay made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dilmen Onay having to interfere. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
