When Teofilo Berenguer fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Karasuno's protests and gave Teofilo Berenguer a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th match minute, Karasuno was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teofilo Berenguer to maneuver through the defense. Omar Estebano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolomeo Heinlein in the 13th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's Thorben Rittmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Omar Estebano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Omar Estebano stood somewhat misplaced when Thorben Rittmann came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 20 minute. Florian Guderian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Bixintxo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute, Thorben Rittmann made a precise shot to the right of Omar Estebano. Karasuno's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Omar Estebano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thorben Rittmann's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Karasuno's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Thorben Rittmann scored to the left of an out of position Omar Estebano, making the score, 4-0. Sydney FC made a substitution. Ernst Schnur replaced Gabriel Michel. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thorben Rittmann stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fausto Ler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nat Schmitt's late challenge caught a Karasuno's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nat Schmitt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nat Schmitt to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Sydney FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Merten Kilic hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Karasuno got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Remir. If Fausto Ler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florian Guderian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Ler in the 90th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Ler came free, but Florian Guderian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Karasuno's goal looked a bit too open when Pierre Möhn came free, but Omar Estebano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Alfonso Karmel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Thorben Rittmann came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Sydney FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thorben Rittmann couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sydney FC had won after a very even match.
