But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leopold Heinloo couldn't finish the play. Orlando Casaus's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Saip Baltaş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Salamanca UDS's goalkeeper Saip Baltaş, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kamel Espitalier was slow to take the kick. During this time Salamanca UDS's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Kamel Espitalier got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Thiago Pliego quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tugay Okkan struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salamanca UDS. In the 70th minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Saip Baltaş. Salamanca UDS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Şanver Selman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kamel Espitalier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Thiago Pliego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle went the supporters of Chile were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Salamanca UDS side.
