Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dieguinho Marinho started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians Paulista's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mattias Casillas came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 6th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dieguinho Marinho in the 11th minute. Mattias Casillas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dieguinho Marinho. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Mattias Casillas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jano Schmidt's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jano Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th match minute, Corinthians Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jano Schmidt to maneuver through the defense. The audience cheered when Daniel Zorita's long shot passed Mattias Casillas's right side. It was 0-1, 17 minutes into the match. Mattias Casillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dieguinho Marinho in the 23rd minute. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mattias Casillas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 30th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Mattias Casillas. Corinthians Paulista's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After a rather tough play, Corinthians Paulista's Jano Schmidt got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Corinthians Paulista booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Julio Vera had in the 52ndth minute some difficulties stopping Dieguinho Marinho's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Corinthians Paulista's Dieguinho Marinho in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Vito Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléber Valle in the 67th minute of play. Corinthians Paulista's Mattias Casillas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Corinthians Paulista from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Corinthians Paulista's Vito Cardoso. But to his dismay, Vito Cardoso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 82nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Kléber Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kléber Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Corinthians Paulista.
