The supporters of Ecuador booed when INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Higinio Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita, 64 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's Romulo Gelacio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's goalkeeper Romulo Gelacio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boni Yarman in the 72nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petros Mousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's defense didn't have a chance, in the 76th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Romulo Gelacio, making the score, 0-3. 81 minutes into the match, He Qiang notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Romulo Gelacio made a huge save.
