To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Higinio Valiente recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gorgory made a substitution. Donatello Caseres replaced Basilio Cordairo. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gorgory's Abel Orlan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Gorgory from getting a goal against them. Gorgory made a substitution. Paulino Araoz replaced Higinio Valiente. Felix Montenegro made in the 69th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Gorgory's Donatello Caseres. With a little luck, Gorgory's Abel Orlan got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 71st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Luis Andino made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Gorgory's Abel Orlan managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 77th minute Elroy Snijders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elroy Snijders in the 79th minute of play. In the 79th minute Elroy Snijders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
