Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergen Sergen in the 21st minute of play. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alan Said showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-0 in the 24 minute of play. Alan Said could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jay Jowsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Sergen Sergen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Attard Gunners's Sergen Sergen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Glenn Bailey during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th minute there was a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jay Jowsey. 4-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alan Said stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergen Sergen in the 53rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Jay Jowsey in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Jay Jowsey to make any attempt to save it. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Jay Jowsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sergen Sergen in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 62 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jay Jowsey, 4-3. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jay Jowsey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 4-4 without a chance for Jay Jowsey to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergen Sergen in the 75th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82ndth minute of the game Alan Said who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 83 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Godwin Sapiano who took care of the corner kick. Attard Gunners's Jay Jowsey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Attard Gunners from getting a goal against them. Sergen Sergen hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Attard Gunners made a substitution. Adrian Savona replaced Sergen Sergen. Attard Gunners's Michael Testaferrata Olivier was substituted for Alan Said. After 90 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. After a defensive mix-up in Attard Gunners's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jay Jowsey came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
