Despite this Eugenio Fidensio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 13 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernesto Farias. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 14th minute. Gallo Moron's Eugenio Fidensio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Gallo Moron's Eugenio Fidensio did a great save. Cristian Sancho's late challenge caught a Gallo Moron's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristian Sancho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 21st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. Eugenio Fidensio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of the match. Eugenio Fidensio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Joel Gudesteo kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernesto Farias's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 55 minutes of play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eugenio Fidensio was left in no man's land by his defense there! 57 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eugenio Fidensio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 62nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenio Fidensio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Camilo Gisbert's late challenge caught a Gallo Moron's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gisbert helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gallo Moron:s goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saturnino Astigar, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
