Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. David Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when AM United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adelino Palma didn't get a good kick on the ball. AM United's David Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of play. After 25 played minutes AM United got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Tinoco. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play forced AM United's goalkeeper David Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the AM United defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Bastos. The AM United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Bastos should have stopped the shot. David Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Teodoro Freire blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Teodoro Freire's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Teodoro Freire helped the player get up and apologised. The AM United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Bastos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Nikos Christou hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. David Bastos acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 64th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Daniel Zorita. 75 minutes into the match, AM United's goalkeeper David Bastos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Bastos having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with David Bastos in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. David Bastos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AM United.
