Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Daniel Zorita made the kick off which started today's match. Lino Telesforo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ardiles booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Kassentoft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erik Kassentoft didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Ardiles's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Erik Kassentoft made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Venerando in the 29th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jimeno Abastas. Ardiles's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Agustín Saelices scored to the left of an out of position Erik Kassentoft, making the score, 2-4. Erik Kassentoft took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the match, Ardiles's goalkeeper Erik Kassentoft had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Kassentoft showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Ardiles's supporters rose to their feet, but Donato Venerando was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ardiles throughout the match.
