When Markos Kalabalikis fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored INTER's protests and gave Markos Kalabalikis a yellow card for diving instead. Markos Kalabalikis hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Ignacio Mahuzier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 10th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ignacio Mahuzier having to make a save. Ignacio Mahuzier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 29thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but INTER's Ignacio Mahuzier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ignacio Mahuzier having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. INTER's Ignacio Mahuzier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in INTER's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignacio Mahuzier came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 37 minutes of play INTER's Markos Kalabalikis was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, INTER's Markos Kalabalikis got a free kick in the 37th minute. Ignacio Mahuzier came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 43rd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A hard shot 57 in the game by Daniel Zorita from a close distance when the talented Ignacio Mahuzier managed to make a qualified save. INTER's players were relieved. In the 58th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ignacio Mahuzier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ignacio Mahuzier. That made the score 0-3 after 63 minutes of play. When Konstantinos Kouros was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 66 minutes had been played. The goalkeeper, Ignacio Mahuzier, was totally fooled by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita, who 67 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a defensive mix-up in INTER's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignacio Mahuzier came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Ignacio Mahuzier made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ignacio Mahuzier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after INTER's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ignacio Mahuzier in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after INTER's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Ignacio Mahuzier despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 87 minutes INTER's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Agustín Saelices made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that INTER's Ignacio Mahuzier managed to reach the ball for a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Felix Montenegro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ignacio Mahuzier. That made the score 0-6 in the 90 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in INTER's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignacio Mahuzier came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ignacio Mahuzier having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than INTER.
