Aurelio Rivas started the match with the kick off. In the 6th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Montes Quevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 minutes of play, Fetiyerd's Aurelio Rivas made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fetiyerd's goalkeeper Montes Quevedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play forced Fetiyerd's goalkeeper Montes Quevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Fetiyerd's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Montes Quevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelio Rivas in the 36th minute of the match. Montes Quevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Aurelio Rivas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurelio Rivas's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelio Rivas in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernan Arraz during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Montes Quevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 67th minute. Antonio Arias was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 69 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Montes Quevedo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience was convinced that Severiano Rua's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 78th minute of the game.
