Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl-Axel Nyman having to interfere. 12 minutes into the game, Eric Petersson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Eric Petersson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 14th minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 30 minutes into the game, Patricio Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Söderbröder the free kick. In the 30th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gláuber Bertassi during the 33rd minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. The Venezuela players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Söderbröder from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
