In the 15th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 17thth minute of the game Maarek Jaama who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vânderson Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. Neeme Juur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Vânderson Pena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Agustín Saelices's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vânderson Pena was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. 37 minutes into the match, Doctor's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Vânderson Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Doctor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. 毛建帆 didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doctor's Vânderson Pena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Doctor from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's Felix Montes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Vânderson Pena in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 83rd minute, Doctor's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Vânderson Pena came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Vânderson Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 87th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vânderson Pena having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Maarek Jaama got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Long Stora in the 95th minute of the match. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
