The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 4thth minute grab hold of the ball when Eddie Murphy from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Görkem Büyükada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 5th minute of play. After 6 played minutes Real Trabzon Sk got a freekick which was hit by Ali Macit Salman. In the 7th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Görkem Büyükada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 8 in the game by Eddie Murphy from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. After 16 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Saffet Akdağ took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Görkem Büyükada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. İlkan Barlas was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 25 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Real Trabzon Sk fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! Zekeriya Özbekkan hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Real Trabzon Sk's goalkeeper Görkem Büyükada, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Görkem Büyükada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Görkem Büyükada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Real Trabzon Sk players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-2.

After having played for 59 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Real Trabzon Sk's Saffet Akdağ. But to his dismay, Saffet Akdağ quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddie Murphy in the 66th minute of the match. In the 70th minute Eddie Murphy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Görkem Büyükada didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Real Trabzon Sk's Görkem Büyükada proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Real Trabzon Sk from getting a goal against them. 85 minutes into the match, Real Trabzon Sk's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Görkem Büyükada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristian Sancho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
