The supporters of Gladiadores booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marciano Pettinelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute of the match, Blas Beila got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The Daniel Urbasa was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 46th minute of play forced Gladiadores's goalkeeper Daniel Urbasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Urbasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Daniel Urbasa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador played a much better game than Gladiadores and deserved their victory. The Gladiadores players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
