The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victorio Pabla in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. In the 8th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pancracio Paniagua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victorio Pabla in the 9th minute of play. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 11th minute of play. After some careless play in the POPULAR F.C defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pancracio Paniagua. The POPULAR F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pancracio Paniagua should have stopped the shot. POPULAR F.C's attentive Maicon de Godoi managed to snatch the ball when Moises Gayoso made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. 19 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when POPULAR F.C's Victorio Pabla fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Victorio Pabla in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pancracio Paniagua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 24th minute of play. After a rather tough play, POPULAR F.C's Clarke Brooks got a free kick in the 25th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in POPULAR F.C fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 26th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Peru a penalty, 27 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Luz Tejedor, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua. 0-2. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pancracio Paniagua prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 37 minutes into the match, POPULAR F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Pancracio Paniagua reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pancracio Paniagua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 43rd minute of play. In the 44th minute, Alonso Berganza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victorio Pabla in the 45th minute of play. After the first half Peru were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victorio Pabla to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Clarke Brooks threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Alonso Berganza quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 54 minutes into the match, POPULAR F.C's Victorio Pabla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th minute of the match POPULAR F.C got a corner. Peru's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gilson Cordeiro ran over to the corner to take the kick. Luz Tejedor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clarke Brooks scored 1-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. POPULAR F.C made a substitution. Mei Xun Jun replaced Stefaan Valkeneers. POPULAR F.C's Sílvio Luís Pires was substituted for Maicon de Godoi. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Léo Gonçalves, made in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Peru's Julian Murillo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. 70 minutes in the game Alonso Berganza did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Julian Murillo. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Victorio Pabla in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pancracio Paniagua came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save POPULAR F.C from getting a goal against them. After 87 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Mina. After 88 played minutes POPULAR F.C got a freekick which was hit by Léo Gonçalves. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victorio Pabla in the 97th minute of the match.
