The corner led to Nasır SK's Ertan Ergalip getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 14th match minute, Nasır SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zühtü Mirza to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Nasır SK's zone, Hector Covarrubias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. Barışcan Hakan might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Nores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Barışcan Hakan ran back to his position shaking his head. After 42 minutes, Barışcan Hakan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nasır SK and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Nasır SK's Barışcan Hakan got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Zühtü Mirza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nasır SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Zühtü Mirza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacobo Nores breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot.
