When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Milferio booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alonso Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Javiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 22nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Prospero Avellaneda in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonatan Iraitz was the one to do the kick off. In the 97th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Javiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
