The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Muten's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Asmund Marchorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Asmund Marchorst didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 7th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute of the match, Ridouane Palermo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 9 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Prospero Orlan. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carmelo Rodas was slow to take the kick. During this time Muten's players had a chance to rest. In the 12th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Asmund Marchorst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Muten's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Agustín Saelices made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Muten's Asmund Marchorst managed to reach the ball for a save. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ridouane Palermo in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A nice corner shot did that Carmelo Rodas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pedro Uzuri who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 28th minute Ridouane Palermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ridouane Palermo in the 31st minute of play. After 34 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Asmund Marchorst was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 42nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ridouane Palermo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Asmund Marchorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 47th minute of play. When Ecuador's Felix Montenegro in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Muten's goalie prevented a goal. After 47 played minutes Muten got a freekick which was hit by Maurino Polo. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
52 minutes into the match, Muten's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Asmund Marchorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 54 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Muten the free kick. Prospero Orlan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Enrique Barrionuevo charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enrique Barrionuevo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 61st minute, one of Muten:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Muten. When the match had been going on for 62 minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Asmund Marchorst. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 64th minute of play forced Muten's goalkeeper Asmund Marchorst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Muten's Vicente Ugutz got a free kick in the 68th minute. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Asmund Marchorst didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Asmund Marchorst made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Muten made a substitution. Prudencio Turi replaced Carmelo Rodas. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Uzuri in the 84th minute of play. After 85 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Prudencio Turi who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Prudencio Turi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 87 minutes into the game, Antonio Arias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Muten the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Laureano Llorian stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Laureano Llorian tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Muten.
