The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenneth Kvarnström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Kenneth Kvarnström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kenneth Kvarnström. Snett★inåt★bakåt's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Kenneth Kvarnström in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth Kvarnström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 81st minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kenneth Kvarnström was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 85th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kenneth Kvarnström came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 87th minute. After 91 minutes, Fernando Carvalhal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Snett★inåt★bakåt and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
