To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roland Bódi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 20th minute of the match, Roland Bódi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jonathan Ferrant was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roland Bódi's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. André Luiz Rosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Pál Hudák tried to sneak it across the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roland Bódi to make the kick off.
