Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martijn Jol, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Alfredo Zarco hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. In the 6th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ramon Simons showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Stommeer A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martijn Jol didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Stommeer A's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ramon Simons reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Stommeer A getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Reinier Ieberink hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Ramon Simons tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Stommeer A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martijn Jol didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramon Simons breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfred Dobrowski got free with Julio Vera in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Ramon Simons was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Alfred Dobrowski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Stommeer A's Ramon Simons played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Dobrowski in the 58th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute Alfred Dobrowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
