After some careless play in the LEON defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Esteban Musko. The LEON fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Esteban Musko should have stopped the shot. LEON's Esteban Musko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play forced LEON's goalkeeper Esteban Musko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esteban Musko came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, LEON's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Esteban Musko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Esteban Musko. Esteban Musko dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pepe Sand in the 44th minute of play. The LEON players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ruperto Asur to make the kick off. Esteban Musko was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 53 minute of play. LEON's Esteban Musko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Esteban Musko however easily saved by the left post. Ruperto Asur hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 65th minute of play forced LEON's goalkeeper Esteban Musko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, LEON's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Esteban Musko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. LEON made a substitution. Silvestre Mikeldi replaced Pepe Sand. LEON's Alfonso Eguzki was substituted for Ruperto Asur. In the 73rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 82nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Esteban Musko was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Agustín Saelices capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Agustín Saelices really showed his touch with that goal: 1-7. Alfonso Eguzki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere.
