Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Internazionale-RS's Michel Netto got a free kick in the 7th minute. Internazionale-RS's Pedro Augusto Alves got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Internazionale-RS's Stefan Neubrandt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 11th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Agustín Saelices got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 31 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Stefan Neubrandt. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Stefan Neubrandt was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 2-0. Alan Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge-Luis Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pedro Augusto Alves made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 86th minute of play forced Internazionale-RS's goalkeeper Stefan Neubrandt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 87th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Neubrandt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Ecuador were the better team. Ecuador's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
