PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca:s Dacian Ghițescu showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Golo Phoenix, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dacian Ghițescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Virgil Jupân stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Virgil Jupân tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Costel Gurgui didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Dacian Ghițescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
