The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Shantala in the 3rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Joshua Secada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. 曹森伟 made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Aurelio Erdiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 16th minute. After 17 minutes, Rob Sinclair mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yaquis FC and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rob Sinclair hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for 曹森伟. Yaquis FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Venezuela fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! Jonathan Ferrant had in the 20thth minute some difficulties stopping Orlando Shantala's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 曹森伟 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Aurelio Erdiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 38th minute. Yaquis FC's Aurelio Erdiano got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Orlando Shantala came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 61st minute Cosme Guifre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute Orlando Shantala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 87 minutes of play Yaquis FC's Rob Sinclair was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 88 played minutes Yaquis FC got a freekick which was hit by Rob Sinclair. The Yaquis FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Venezuela to win.
