After 7 minutes SANTOS F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. In the 11th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cauã Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cauã Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cauã Domingues having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cauã Domingues was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 25th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 29 minutes into the game, Durvalino Soeiro lined in a short shot 1-3 behind a frustrated Julio Vera. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Cauã Domingues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 35 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Cauã Domingues was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Juan Sebastián Puig made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues managed to reach the ball for a save. If Gustavo Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
