Jose Policarpios short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 29 minutes into the match, La Mora CAT's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Marc-André Grifoll reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Du Jian Chen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jose Policarpio, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 36 minutes into the match, Jose Policarpio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jose Policarpio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Policarpio in the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. La Mora CAT's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The referee ignored La Mora CAT's protests and gave Jose Policarpio a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Gaucho in the 75th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
