With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Babür Mertoğlu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Enric Patiño stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Enric Patiño tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 44th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Babür Mertoğlu. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. 54 minutes into the game, Modroñes's Babür Mertoğlu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Modroñes's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ceferino Igon in the 59th minute. Ceferino Igon made a great header on Modroñes's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Babür Mertoğlu's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Celso Tavera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 64th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Celso Tavera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enric Patiño in the 74th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute Babür Mertoğlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
