The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karel-Jan De Winter in the 3rd minute of play. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Jos Verduin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-0. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Vergílio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when UMBRELLA CORPORATION™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wanderson Freire having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wanderson Freire. UMBRELLA CORPORATION™'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 32nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Arnaldo Vergílio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Jos Verduin sent off a good shot on target. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Sebastián Puig's late challenge caught a UMBRELLA CORPORATION™'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Sebastián Puig helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. When Karel-Jan De Winter came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the UMBRELLA CORPORATION™ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karel-Jan De Winter couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jos Verduin made a kick off. UMBRELLA CORPORATION™ were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Karel-Jan De Winter took the corner. Karel-Jan De Winter made a great header on UMBRELLA CORPORATION™'s corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Wanderson Freire made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 78th minute Arnaldo Vergílio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wanderson Freire made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jos Verduin, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. When Tiaguinho Saldanha fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UMBRELLA CORPORATION™'s protests and gave Tiaguinho Saldanha a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wanderson Freire came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Wanderson Freire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 96th minute of play.
