Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 20th minute Witold Bycofski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Tomas Illescas fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card for diving instead. Tomas Illescas hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Jonathan Venegas charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Tomas Illescas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mateusz Hajto quite easily take care of the ball. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
