Maxim De Mayer's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maxim De Mayer helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd minute, one of Salta Futbol Club:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Salta Futbol Club. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jimeno Teodor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Gavra Parezanović hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimeno Teodor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimeno Teodor having to interfere. Salta Futbol Club's Jimeno Teodor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Salta Futbol Club from getting a goal against them. In the 20th minute, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jimeno Teodor. Jimeno Teodor yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Jimeno Teodor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 23rd minute. Ernesto Odol kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Salta Futbol Club's Jimeno Teodor. Jimeno Teodor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Joel Gaona could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Jimeno Teodor made a huge save. After 40 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jimeno Teodor was left in no man's land by his defense there! Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ernesto Odol was the one to do the kick off. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 54 played minutes Salta Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Van Denayer. Jimeno Teodor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Jimeno Teodor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimeno Teodor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Salta Futbol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Jimeno Teodor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jimeno Teodor was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 68th minute of play forced Salta Futbol Club's goalkeeper Jimeno Teodor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Salta Futbol Club's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Jimeno Teodor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stéphane Le Thiec. In the 81st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Salta Futbol Club's Jimeno Teodor. Jimeno Teodor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jimeno Teodor came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo. But to his dismay, Lautaro Mancebo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimeno Teodor having to interfere. Salta Futbol Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
