In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jesus Sayveon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score.

Athletico Picapedrense's Orlondo Aguado was substituted for Zenon Klewinski. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hristo Stoichkov stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hristo Stoichkov in the 56th minute of play. After 57 minutes, Joel Gaona made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Athletico Picapedrense's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when Alberto Tafalla scored to the left of an out of position Jesus Sayveon, making the score, 0-4. 92 minutes into the game, Joel Gaona recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jesus Sayveon. Joel Gaona showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval got a free kick in the 98th minute.
