An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 12th minute of play forced Athletico Picapedrense's goalkeeper Jesus Sayveon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Jesus Sayveon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jesus Sayveon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 21st minute of play. Hristo Stoichkovs short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Thiago Pliego to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hristo Stoichkov in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. In the 28th minute of the match, Hristo Stoichkov tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Thiago Pliego saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mariano Lacasa in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jesus Sayveon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 43rd minute, Jose Manzanedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Jose Manzanedo hit a great ball. In the 47thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hristo Stoichkov to make the kick off. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Athletico Picapedrense's Coronel Ribas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Felix Garrido, made in the 54th minute of the game. Mariano Lacasa took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jesus Sayveon. Jesus Sayveon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Athletico Picapedrense made a substitution. Eloi Fontanella replaced Hristo Stoichkov. 62 minutes into the match, Eloi Fontanella notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Chile's Thiago Pliego. Thiago Pliego was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jesus Sayveon made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Chile booed when Athletico Picapedrense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juanito Gabucio didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 78th minute of the match Chile got a corner. Athletico Picapedrense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mariano Lacasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. Eloi Fontanella's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Jesus Sayveon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Athletico Picapedrense's goalkeeper Jesus Sayveon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloi Fontanella in the 91st minute of play. Jesus Sayveon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Athletico Picapedrense from getting a goal against them.
