The referee ignored Pauliström's protests and gave George Beckeman a yellow card for diving instead. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivar Björklund in the 8th minute of the match. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The audience was convinced that Folke Melin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. 62 minutes into the match, Folke Melin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 82 played minutes Pauliström got a freekick which was hit by Henry Näver. Malcolm Wall made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. Henry Näver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pauliström were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Venezuela to leave the ground with a draw.
