The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Angelo Carrasco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shohoku FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Reconquistense FC the free kick. A collision led to Shohoku FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Angelo Carrasco hit a great ball. When Reconquistense FC's Santiago Calvino in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Shohoku FC's goalie prevented a goal. Tamariz Saul showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Calvino in the 8th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Shohoku FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Lucado came free, but Tamariz Saul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute, Firmín Navarro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reynaldo Argi was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Tamariz Saul showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Calvino, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Melchor Iztal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Tamariz Saul was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. It was a well-played corner which Cosme Umea managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 23 minutes into the match, Shohoku FC's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Calvino came free, but Tamariz Saul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Igor Jago lost his temper 25 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Reconquistense FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosme Umea in the 31st minute of play forced Shohoku FC's goalkeeper Tamariz Saul to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Shohoku FC booed when Reconquistense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislao Neron didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Elvio Gines notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Shohoku FC's Tamariz Saul. Tamariz Saul was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Shohoku FC's Tamariz Saul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elvio Gines in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Firmín Navarro made a kick off. Reynaldo Argi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salomone Irizar, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Savier Guzmán hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Jonas Lucado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tamariz Saul took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosme Umea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Melchor Iztal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reynaldo Argi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Savier Guzmán, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Reynaldo Argi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salomone Irizar in the 71st minute of play. When Cosme Umea came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Reconquistense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cosme Umea couldn't finish the play. Elvio Gines came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tamariz Saul could save by the left post. In the 77th minute, Shohoku FC's Savier Guzmán seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Savier Guzmán the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Shohoku FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Savier Guzmán had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 85 minutes into the game, Cosme Umea recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tamariz Saul. Cosme Umea showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. If Salomone Irizar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Reconquistense FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
