The corner led Peru's Alonso Berganza to fire away a dangerous shot which Mira Pene despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Emmanuel Reyes hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Luz Tejedor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mira Pene read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. The supporters of Peru booed when Paso FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvestre Ellande didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luz Tejedor came free in the 78th minute and tried to tip the ball over Mira Pene, but to the joy of Paso FC's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. 80 minutes into the game, Paso FC's Denis Rivas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rolando Noboa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. In the 87th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mira Pene saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Denis Rivas came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Paso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Rivas couldn't finish the play. Mira Pene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After some careless play in the Paso FC defense, Rafael Gallo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mira Pene. The Paso FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mira Pene should have stopped the shot. 95 minutes into the match, Paso FC's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Tenorio came free, but Mira Pene reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despite being the better team, Peru failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
