Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustin Sotil, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Haroldo Raymon. Haroldo Raymon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustin Sotil in the 18th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 53rd minute of the match Guillermo Mariano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Haroldo Raymon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sportivo Constitución's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo Raymon came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 57 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Sportivo Constitución's Haroldo Raymon. Haroldo Raymon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Sportivo Constitución booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Sportivo Constitución's Siro Argenis broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Venezuela had won after a very even match.
