Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Flavio Maestri came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Ferrant could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 15th minute. Flavio Maestri who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 23rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Mariano to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Flavio Maestri ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Flavio Maestri scored 2-0 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute of the match Joanes Bas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ratko Glavak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ratko Glavak having to interfere. Joanes Bas kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Ratko Glavak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute of the match. In the 45th minute Flavio Maestri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. When Joshua Secada fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Joshua Secada a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd minute, Joshua Secada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the match, Flavio Maestri notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 56 minutes into the game, Deportivo Municipal's Flavio Maestri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Deportivo Municipal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seguinus Ortega didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Deportivo Municipal's Flavio Maestri sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavio Maestri might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flavio Maestri ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Deportivo Municipal fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
