Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mircea Robu's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mircea Robu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Robu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Nicolescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petre Maghiran in the 8th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodor Romeo in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Paralia Athens's Iulian Doinaș ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Jonathan Ferrant successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Manuel Marghescu kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iordache Ţugui didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mircea Robu kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Teodor Chirilă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Nicolescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paralia Athens's Cristian Nicolescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute of play. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Nicolescu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Petre Maghiran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Petre Maghiran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 47 played minutes, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cristian Nicolescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Venezuela reached it. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 55th match minute, Paralia Athens was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodor Chirilă to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vasile Enciulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 61st minute Petre Maghiran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paralia Athens's Mircea Robu got his second yellow card of the match in the 69th minute. The referee ordered Mircea Robu off the ground. After a rather tough play, Paralia Athens's Mircea Robu got a free kick in the 70th minute. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Petre Maghiran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 81stth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Paralia Athens's Cristian Nicolescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Cristian Nicolescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 88 minutes, Iordache Ţugui mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paralia Athens and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 89 played minutes Paralia Athens got a freekick which was hit by Iordache Ţugui. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Cristian Nicolescu in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Paralia Athens fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
