In the 9th minute, Luo Jing hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Pires, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Miguel in the 13th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Miguel in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes had been played when some careless play by Costa Rica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luis Miguel was slow to take the kick. During this time Penuel Football Club's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Luis Miguel got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benito Sanz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The Costa Rica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Penuel Football Club were winning 0-5.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luis Miguel got free with Benito Sanz in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 58th minute, Penuel Football Club's Jorge-Luis Borges ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. The supporters of Penuel Football Club booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Penuel Football Club's Ludwig Bergqvist was substituted for Luis Miguel. In the 66th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 67th minute Lizer Cordal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lizer Cordal did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-8 to the left of a surprised Benito Sanz 71 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Lizer Cordal took a quick shot and it went in 0-9 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. Lizer Cordal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Lizer Cordal kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 0-11 in the 88 minute of play. In the 96th minute Ludwig Bergqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Penuel Football Club's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
