The audience was convinced that Sulo Montaña's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristian Mergildo was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. In the 11th minute of the match C.A. LANUS got a corner. LOI's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Per-Åke Saâdallah ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led C.A. LANUS's Per-Åke Saâdallah to fire away a dangerous shot which George Buturugã despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. José Serrizuela could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but George Buturugã made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sulo Montaña in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristian Mergildo saved C.A. LANUS from getting behind. Cristian Mergildo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sulo Montaña's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. Özgür Özbay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Mergildo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sulo Montaña in the 19th minute of the match. 23 minutes into the game, LOI's Sulo Montaña nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cristian Mergildo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 28 minutes into the match, C.A. LANUS's goal looked a bit too open when Sulo Montaña came free, but Cristian Mergildo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Mergildo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sulo Montaña went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 34 minutes into the match, C.A. LANUS's goal looked a bit too open when Sulo Montaña came free, but Cristian Mergildo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, Sulo Montaña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 41 minutes, Adamantios Geronimidis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A. LANUS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adamantios Geronimidis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zheng Chen Kang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half LOI were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 54th minute, Sulo Montaña left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The LOI fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Cristian Mergildo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sulo Montaña in the 66th minute. 66 minutes into the game, Sulo Montaña recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cristian Mergildo. Sulo Montaña showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. C.A. LANUS's Cristian Mergildo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sulo Montaña in the 70th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Serrizuela in the 72nd minute of play forced LOI's goalkeeper George Buturugã to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 73 minutes LOI's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Per-Åke Saâdallah who took care of the corner kick. In the 82nd minute Özgür Özbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian Mergildo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George Buturugã took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pang Xing Lang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. LANUS's goalkeeper Cristian Mergildo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sulo Montaña's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristian Mergildo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st minute of the match, Sulo Montaña got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cristian Mergildo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.
