After a defensive mix-up in La Mazorca's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karol Kluczyk came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 7th match minute, La Mazorca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rosendo Orkatz to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the game, Raul Tristan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Mazorca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. A collision led to La Mazorca getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Raul Tristan hit a great ball. In the 13th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karol Kluczyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karol Kluczyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 24th minute Horacio Silvino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 28 minutes, Karol Kluczyk successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
