Johan Vall's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Johan Vall helped the player get up and apologised. Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kurt Bure to make the kick off. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Arvin Ekerot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Maximiliano Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arvin Ekerot having to interfere. Maximiliano Escribano kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. A hard shot 84 in the game by Kurt Bure from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved.
