After having played for 13 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 16 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Damyan Kotevski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Damyan Kotevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Ikonom Gerginov took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miro Bezhanski in the 55th minute of play. Damyan Kotevski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 58th minute. Damyan Kotevski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
