The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 19 played minutes Trinchera FC got a freekick which was hit by Leon Hegoi. Camilo Bittor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abraham Alguacil, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Panama were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Trinchera FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Abraham Alguacil took the corner. The corner led Panama's Abraham Alguacil to fire away a dangerous shot which Camilo Bittor despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Berganza couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guido Gaizkine in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Cotilla saved Panama from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
