In the 29thth minute of the game Peder Alström who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 30thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Kent Näver would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. After having played for 33 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Kalfhage in the 36th minute of play. In the 39th minute of the match INIXET BK got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tom Lövgren ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Peder Alström to make the kick off. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Carl Kalfhage tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 53 minutes, Sören Gregersson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the INIXET BK and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 53 played minutes INIXET BK got a freekick which was hit by Sören Gregersson. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Peder Alström in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kent Näver was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Carl Kalfhage kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 69 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Peder Alström came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tom Lövgren hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Björn Pihlgren hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. INIXET BK's Kent Näver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 80th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in INIXET BK's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kent Näver came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carl Kalfhage in the 85th minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kent Näver breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Sören Gregersson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carl Kalfhage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
